The scientific evidence
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Matrix Reimprinting and Tension Release Exercises (TRE) are relatively new therapies, which involve working with the body, emotions and thoughts in a unique and novel way.
In Western culture there is a strong belief in pharmaceutical therapies, so it is quite difficult to receive funding for research into non-drug treatments. Once results are available, it can be equally hard to publish the outcomes relating to new therapies in reputable journals.
Despite these limitations good scientific evidence in favour of these new approaches is emerging.
There are now many books on Emotional Freedom Technique available on the market, ranging from simple ‘how to’ instructions and general introductions, to detailed descriptions of the use of EFT in a number of different specialist areas.
They can be a great way for self-help with simple issues, for exploring EFT in more depth, or for continuing work in between consultations.
